Recipes

As you can guess, this page serve as a launching pad for all articles and posting that sound like food, smell like food, or look like food! I am using this to document my journey into the world of food from a non foodie’s perspective.  Now a days (2023), anyone that post something about food tends to come from the POV that their posts need to highlight their “expert” knowledge of a particular dish.  For example, how it should taste like, look like it, and the best dish they have tasted. It shouldn’t be the case, in my opinion.  Sometimes the writer get “bashed” just because the audience(s) think otherwise.  There is no such thing as the best tasting -<insert your best tasting food here>.  Sure you may argue that a plate of fried rice may not taste as good as your mom’s cooking, true, but there may be someone who think otherwise.  There’s nothing wrong with that, it is what it is. We are human, unique in our own ways.

We as human are unique in that we are not clone of each other and therefore,  what you and I like, others may not think the same and that is perfectly okay and should be as such.  I am always of the believe that there are many ways to “skin a cat” so to speak.  So there should not be one best way and  it is all up to individual which way they feel comfortable. Therefore it goes without saying, cooking should be approached from this perspective.

All the recipes that are used for any postings here are mostly not my original, since I have no originality in my bone! They are all adapted from the many recipes available on the internet for free, however there are a few that are close to being yours truly. Just to clarify, the things I am not:- 1) a good cook, 2) original, 3) having a good taste bud, 4) perfectionist, and many more to list.  But the things I am:- 1) Too lazy to do things the hard way, 2) close is good enough, 3) not afraid of failure, 4) not a food purist.  That is to say, I will attempt to make a dish using known recipes and will be happy using substitutes or omission and be happy if it turn out not as expected as long as it tastes good.  Every time I make the same dish, I learn something new.  One thing I am starting to realize with cooking, is not to follow the recipe to the dot.  Recipe should only be a reference, you should let your inner self and feeling guide you to the end result.

Having stated my disclaimer above, my main reason for posting these recipes here is for my own benefit. There were times when we visited family and friends and were “invited” to make a certain dish and i had to politely declined since my recipes are on my hard drive at home.  Finally, with these postings, where ever i am, as long as there is internet and market where I can get the ingredient I can make whip up something.
